is easy, seeing the trailer and taking into account all the hype, think The American is a film action. Surely this explains the success of box office and the bad reaction of much of the public after her. So that should make one thing clear to all who consider going to the movies for viewing: The American is not an action movie. Has shots, yes, but very few and at times. It gives some persecution, but do not remember having had more than one.

It's a slow film, parsimonious, with long stretches where nothing seems to happen, and large flat landscape of incomparable beauty. In this sense a lot like the western, and in fact the director has acknowledged the influence of this kind on his person and when making the film. Many people, especially the most impatient and not used to this kind of cinema, is bored in his chair. However, I must say that the film maintains the tension throughout the scenes footage and features worthy of remembrance.
